Why solar panels in Belgium get dirty faster than you think
Belgium’s climate and dense built environment produce a typically Belgian mix of soiling. Unlike in dry or tropical countries, the dirt here doesn’t come from a single source but from several at once: fine dust from traffic, pollen and ammonia from farming, salt from the sea wind, and bird droppings that damp Belgian winters make especially stubborn.
Built-up areas and heavy traffic
Almost 40% of Belgium’s population lives in the Antwerp-Brussels-Ghent triangle. Solar panels in this area are constantly exposed to fine dust, soot and rubber particles from the E40, E17, E19 and E313 motorways. Along these routes, we measure an average yield loss of 8–12% after 18 months without cleaning.

Do you work throughout Belgium, or only in Flanders?
We work in all 10 Belgian provinces and the Brussels-Capital Region. Our team speaks Dutch and French. For customers in Wallonia, all communication and reporting is entirely in French.
How soon can you come?
Usually within 1 to 3 weeks of accepting the quote, depending on the season. April to October is our busiest period, so ideally plan 3 to 4 weeks ahead. In urgent cases, such as visible damage or an insurance claim, we can often be there within 5 working days.
Is solar panel cleaning tax-deductible for Belgian businesses?
Yes. As a Belgian business, you can deduct our invoice in full as a maintenance cost and recover the VAT (21%). For larger solar parks, cleaning is often recorded as an operating cost within the depreciation period.
Do you work with installers?
Yes, we work with several Belgian installers who offer cleaning to their customers as a maintenance service. Are you an installer who would like to offer cleaning under your own name (white label)? Give us a call.
Does your insurance also apply outside Flanders?
Yes. Our liability and property damage insurance covers the whole of Belgium without restriction. The same terms apply in Kortrijk as in Eupen.
How often should I have my solar panels cleaned in the Belgian climate?
That depends on the location and type of installation. Homes in town: every 1 to 2 years. Commercial buildings in an industrial or rural area: once a year. Farms or sites near the coast: 1 to 2 times a year. Solar parks: 2 to 4 times a year, depending on how quickly they get dirty. After each clean, you’ll receive advice based on what we find on site.
Do you offer multi-year contracts?
Yes. Multi-year maintenance contracts (2–5 years) are popular with businesses and solar parks. You get a price guarantee, priority scheduling and typically a 10–15% discount compared with one-off cleans.
What if it rains on the scheduled day?
Light drizzle is no problem: our robots and operators keep working. In heavy rain, storms or winds above 40 km/h, we move the job to the next suitable day. Rescheduling is always free of charge.
Can I have several sites cleaned at once?
Certainly. For Belgian businesses with several sites, such as retail chains, logistics companies or agribusinesses, we’re happy to plan one round covering all locations. This usually earns you a volume discount, because we spend less time travelling.
Do you also work in the Belgian enclaves, such as Baarle-Hertog and Voeren?
Yes. Every Belgian municipality is part of our service area, including enclaves and border regions.
